What might a clock do if it no longer had to tell the time?
In On Borrowed Time, disused clock mechanisms become the starting point for a series of playful ‘hourworks’. Freed from the task of keeping time, their movements take on a different purpose: to invite curiosity, hold our attention, or simply play.
The work continues my research into the tension between clock time and lived experience. We organise our lives around the clock, yet the way we experience time rarely follows its steady pace.
What room might open up when we loosen that relationship?
This first study is part of an ongoing exploration in which intuition, experimentation and the mechanisms themselves guide what happens next.
