Tempo Rubato Timepiece plays with the idea that time is not simply dividable by equal intervals, but that its duration fluctuates, lengthens and shortens by our experiences of moments passing.
It makes time stand still, run ahead, or stay behind -depending on the speed of the wind. It is only over longer periods of time that it is seen that the speed of this clock is in average equal to any other.
Our experience of, and relationship with time is influenced by our cultural background, our surrounding, sound, silence and mental state of being. Tempo Rubato is an object that is meant to evoke thinking on these subjects;
What is time without our experience of it?
'The inner duration is the ongoing life of a memory that continues the past
in the present.'
Henri Bergson
